About Shanghai Polytechnic University
Shanghai Second Polytechnic University (SSPU) was founded in 1960. With a focus on engineering, SSPU is renowned for its academic achievements in multiple disciplines, including Economics, Management, Humanities, Science and Art. The university mainly provides undergraduate education, complemented by postgraduate, higher vocational, and international education. Within the university’s six academic disciplines, bachelor’s degrees are offered in 37 fields of study, and higher vocational diplomas are offered in 30 fields of study. Currently, the university has nearly 1,100 faculty and staff, and over 12,000 full-time students. Since September 2011, the university has enrolled 220 overseas students from over ten countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania.
Located in Jinqiao Industry Park of Pudong New Area, and adjacent to Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone and more than 50 Fortune 500 companies, the university has the geographic advantage of university-industry collaboration and international exchange. The university boasts its total floor space of 300 thousand square meters, including an Experimental Teaching and Practical Training Center of 40 thousand square meters and 44 standard laboratories. The university supplies state-of-the-art equipments and facilities for teaching and research, including a library with over a million books and a comprehensive computer network service system. In Shanghai, the university has established extensive cooperative partnerships with all walks of society, including Shanghai Cooperative Center for WEEE Recycling, Shang Industry Design Service Platform, and Credit Research Center. In the Yangtze River Delta region, the university has established a number of technology transfer stations in order to provide comprehensive technology service for local companies in the areas of Electronics and Automatic control, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Computer and Information Technology, and Environmental Engineering and New Materials.
